32 Psalm
King Solomon
[1015 BC becomes king]
After
a personal quest for meaning in life, a wise king named Solomon used
the word "folly" to describe all this world has to offer. Solomon
reigned over Israel after David making it the richest nation on earth and he,
the richest living human being. Still, he did not find that peace and joy
resulted from amassing such wealth, nor from winning wars, or marrying many
wives. He did learn much from his quest for true meaning in life.
You will discover Solomon's profound wisdom recorded in the Old Testament books
of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs.

It
was David who first had the idea of building a permanent temple to God on Mount Moriah,
but it was his son
Solomon who actually had it built.
The first 8
verses of Chapter 3 of Ecclesiastes were put to music by legendary folk singer
Pete Seeger and later made a number one hit by The Byrds.
Solomon sums up his wisdom with these words; Ecclesiastes 12:13. Let us
hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments:
for this is the whole duty of man. 14. For God shall bring every work into
judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.
That verse from Ecclesiastes reads very similar to others. Psalms 111:10.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good
understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for
ever. and Proverb 1:7. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
There are still other Bible verses that make the same point that if you
really want to understand yourself, the people around you, and the world you
live in, first realize it is God who created it all and respect and get to know
Him.
It should not surprise us when we find the Bible saying the same thing in
different places. After all, all the Books of the Bible really have the same
author, God.
Proverbs 6: 16. These six things doth the Lord hate:
yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in
running to mischief,
19. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among
brethren.

Telling lies and killing are obviously against God's
commands. But so are plotting and making evil plans and trying
to stir up trouble. God loves peacemakers, not troublemakers.
Do not spread rumors or even listen to them. It should not amuse you
to see others getting in trouble either. Don't egg people on
trying to create a fight. Avoid arguing, and if you sense that anger
is flaring, attempt to calm the situation. If you can't, go and get
someone who can.
Unfortunately King Solomon's actions were not always as wise as his
teachings. He disobeyed God by taking wives who worshipped false
Gods. Because of this God allowed his Kingdom to become weak.
